System Requirements
Confirm your computer meets all requirements before installing LiftOff. All three areas below must be satisfied for the extraction to run successfully.
LiftOff must be run on Windows. The extraction connects to QuickBooks Desktop via a Windows-only interface (QBXML/COM).
macOS and Linux are not supported for running an extraction.
- QuickBooks Desktop must be installed and licensed on the same computer as LiftOff.
- QuickBooks must be open and running with your company file loaded when you start an extraction. LiftOff will not open QuickBooks on your behalf.
- Any edition is supported: Pro, Premier, or Enterprise.
QuickBooks Online is not supported. LiftOff only works with the Windows desktop application.
LiftOff uploads your snapshot directly to Pivoten over HTTPS. Your computer must have an active internet connection that can reach:
s3.amazonaws.com on port 443
If your network uses a firewall or proxy, confirm that outbound HTTPS traffic to that address is permitted. Contact your IT department if you are unsure.
You need a Pivoten account to sign in to LiftOff. Contact your Pivoten account team if you need credentials.
LiftOff stores your session securely in the Windows credential store — you will not be prompted to log in again on subsequent runs unless your session expires.
Automatic system check
LiftOff runs a System Check automatically each time you open the extraction screen. All three checks must pass before the Start Extraction button becomes active.
| Check | What it verifies |
|---|---|
| QuickBooks Desktop | QuickBooks is running on this computer |
| Company File | The configured .qbw file exists and is readable on disk |
| Internet Access | Your computer can reach Pivoten's upload endpoint |
If a check fails, LiftOff displays a suggested fix below it. Resolve the issue and click Check again to re-run.
Once your system meets all requirements, follow the Installation & Setup guide to install LiftOff and run your first extraction.
