What is LiftOff?
LiftOff is a desktop application that exports your QuickBooks Desktop company data and delivers it securely to Pivoten for migration into Pivoten Accounting Manager.
You install LiftOff on the same Windows computer where QuickBooks is installed, connect it to your company file, and work through a guided four-step wizard. LiftOff reads your QuickBooks data, packages it into a secure snapshot, and uploads it along with your QB reports directly to Pivoten. From there, Pivoten's team handles the import into Accounting Manager — no manual file transfers required.
How it works
-
1
Log in Sign in with your Pivoten account. LiftOff stores your session securely in the Windows credential store.
-
2
Select a workspace Each QuickBooks company file gets its own workspace. LiftOff remembers your settings per workspace so you do not need to reconfigure on subsequent runs.
-
3
Configure Point LiftOff at your
.qbwcompany file and optionally set a date range to limit which transactions are included. -
4
Gather QB reports Export a Trial Balance, Check Reconciliation, and any other relevant reports from QuickBooks and attach them in LiftOff. These give Pivoten the reference data to verify the migration.
-
5
Extract, verify, and upload LiftOff connects to QuickBooks, reads all your data in the correct dependency order, and uploads the snapshot and reports to Pivoten.
-
6
Done Pivoten's team is notified automatically and will reach out to complete the migration.
LiftOff must be run on the Windows computer where QuickBooks Desktop is installed. See System Requirements for the full list of prerequisites.
What gets extracted
LiftOff extracts your complete QuickBooks data set — company information, chart of accounts, all master lists (customers, vendors, employees, items), and all transaction types. See Data Coverage for a full breakdown of what is and is not included.
Security & data handling
Your data is uploaded directly from LiftOff to Pivoten's secure cloud storage over an encrypted HTTPS connection. No data passes through any intermediate system. The snapshot is stored in Pivoten's environment and is only accessible to Pivoten's migration team.
